Mototake Makishima is a film director / video artist based in London. He completed a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art in Communication Art and Design.
His video art pieces have been shown at a number of international art and film festivals including Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal, RESFEST and Sónar. He was also invited to participate at the Berlinale Talent Campus 2005. He had his first solo show at the Sketch gallery in London in 2003 and has taken part in group shows at the Here Arts Center in New York City, the CCCB in Barcelona and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. He was awarded a Pola Art Foundation Grant, a Japanese Government Overseas Study Programme for Artists and a Union Foundation for Ergodesign Culture Grant. His work, Abandoned Time, was shortlisted for the Jerwood Moving Image Awards 2008. His recent film, Nocturnal Silence, was shown at Danny Boyle’s Shuffle Film Festival.
